Yesterday my teammates and I went for a trip to Val Venosta – Vinschgau to visit some typical structures in Prad, such as an alpine dairy and a farm where they produce their own speck and bake their own fantastic bread. In the afternoon we went to visit Glurns, one of the smallest alpine cities ever and a (!) whiskey distillery.
We liked it very much, the landscape is amazing, I always forget how wide this valley gets over there! And if you keep observing the river while travelling up by train, you might even see some herons on the way!
I appreciated a lot the simple life and the purposefulnes of the farmers there, believing in their dream and reaching their aim to rebuild the dairy and to be successful with their amazing products they bring to Merano twice a week. Life seems so different there… there is an unusual sense of calm and a care for the small things I seem not to be used to anymore.
As we went to Glurns, I was astonished by the history of this small city, made of wars, floodings and rebuildings, the city is still scarred by. After the city guide we went to an (!) Italian whiskey distillery, an amazing innovative building with a curious history about a man, who started it all as a hobby. It is in a crass contrast with the small city, but even more interesting and worth seeing.
